Sunday, March 2 marks the start of the new opening season at the Royal Castle of Govone, following a remarkable 2024, as described by architect Luca Malvicino, Director of the Govone Residenza Sabauda ETS association:
“We are very pleased with the results achieved in 2024: nearly 20,000 visitors, a truly significant figure in the history of the Castle, with a substantial expansion of our target audience, now ranging from children and families to students of all ages, as well as both international and local tourists. Our commitment for the new year is to continue enhancing and promoting the Castle by launching new major restoration projects on the noble floor, hosting established artistic and cultural events, and creating special moments of entertainment. We will work increasingly in synergy with the group of Savoy Royal Residences, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of which the Castle is a part, as well as with local and national associations.”
A calendar full of unmissable events
In March, the season kicks off in a festive mood with Family Carnival, bringing fun to the Castle and the town square during the first two weekends of the reopening.
Sunday, March 2, the rooms of the Castle will host family-friendly activities organized by the local association TempoXTe. Saturday, March 8, there will be a big Carnival celebration in the town square with games organized by TempoXTe and a delicious polenta-and-Nutella snack prepared by Govone’s Pro Loco. And listen up: on both dates, entrance to the Castle will be free for adults in costume accompanying costumed children!
Saturday, March 22 will see the inauguration of CROCICCHI (di carta, di tempo e di intento), the exhibition by Marco Paschetta—an artistic and cultural event not to be missed. The following day, Sunday, March 23, the highly anticipated community festival “Tulipani a Corte” (“Tulips at Court”), created and promoted by the Centro di Promozione Culturale “Govone e il castello,” returns with art, music, children’s activities, a village market, and tastings by Govone’s local wine producers.
In April, for Easter, the Castle will be closed on Sunday the 20th and open on Monday the 21st for Pasquetta. On Saturday, April 12, children and creativity take center stage with “Disegniamo l’arte” (“Let’s Draw Art”), while Sunday, April 13, “Le vie del Tempo” (“The Ways of Time”) will guide you on a journey through history.
May will be dedicated to “Regalmente Rosa” (“Royally Pink”), with a special opening on the 1st for Labor Day and a packed schedule of events each weekend of the month: Creativamente Roero, historical reenactments, special tours exploring the town, guided visits to the rose garden, and children’s activities.
In June, new historical re-enactments with “Le vie del Tempo,” activities for children, and special guided tours of the town will be on offer.
Remember, this is just a taste of what’s in store—stay connected via the Castle’s website and social media channels to keep up with all the latest news and get ready for unforgettable experiences!

Cross through time as you explore the Castle’s rooms.
Initially a noble palace, then a royal residence, and finally a community hub for all the people of Govone, the Castle weaves together centuries of history. Visiting it means retracing the steps that shaped it into the multifaceted—and therefore unique—place it is today.
Govone extends beyond my walls. It is an entire community that takes care of the magnificent places it inhabits. I invite you to explore everything that surrounds me: the park and the gardens, the greenhouse, the intimate rose garden, the village, and the outdoor trails immersed in nature, which you can explore on foot or by bike.
